State Minister for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, revealed on Wednesday that President Muhammadu Buhari has yet to receive an amended version of the 2016 budget document from the National Assembly.
According to Punch, Ahmed disclosed that both members of the Legislature and Executive were working hard to resolve issues caused by padding within the budget, stating hope that details of the document would be with the President by Thursday at the latest.
“On the 2016 budget, I must say that the Executive and Legislature have worked very hard putting things together, reviewing the details of the budget and it is at its final stage.
“So, may be between today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday), the National Assembly will start the process of transmitting the details to the President,” she said.
While discussing the strategic implementation plan for the budget, Ahmed revealed that 34 priority areas had been categorised into six thematic areas so as to streamline economic activities and ensure that the purpose of the budget is fulfilled.
