Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa has said New Ford-Kenya party has not been dissolved to join Jubilee Party.
Wamalwa, who previously led the party but resigned after he was appointed CS, said the decision to dissolve the party is yet to be approved.
“We are at that process where the parties are going through the process of approving the merger. None of the parties have been dissolved so far, including New Ford-Kenya.
“New Ford-Kenya has not been dissolved; what we have is the party’s National Executive Council’s decision approving the merger, then the General Council will have to approve that resolution. The dissolution will be done by delegates who will later approve the merger of the parties,” the CS said in interview in Nairobi Tuesday.
He said no party should force another one to fold up and form a merger ahead of the next polls adding that negotiations should take center stage.
“These parties have approved the process of their merger into one party called Jubilee Party of Kenya. No party will dictate to another on what to do about the merger. It will be a negotiated process to come together to form one vehicle and I believe it will be achieved,” Wamalwa said.
Reports about the dissolution of the party surfaced early this month when the party’s leadership led by their chairman Governor Ken Lusaka of Bungoma visited President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House Nairobi.
