Supporting CORD leader Raila Odinga is a thankless task, an ODM Senator says.
Kisii Senator Chris Obure says that after years of support for Raila, his people are yet to see the fruits of development, making it harder and harder to support him.
He adds that the region is desperate for development but that being behind Raila is not helping them at all.
” The fact is that being in the opposition for the last 15 years has not helped the Kisii region and the people deserve more,” he said in Nairobi Wednesday.
He continued that he and other leaders from the region had invited President Uhuru Kenyatta to Kiss to chart a way forward development wise for the region.
” We will speak development for the region as well as projects that can help the people. The time for divisive politics is over. We are interested in development,” he added.
Obure has backed Raila in the past and seen him lose a number of elections but says that it is likely time to be won the winning side.
” We will see, but we are looking to form a party that will put Kisii on the right bargaining path for the future,” he said of his next political move.
CORD leader Odinga is set to visit Kisii later this month on tour, weeks after President Kenyatta visits the region.
