The government has been asked to investigate cases of missing persons and killings of some of the victims.
Human rights activist, Al-Amin Kimathi has said the truth should be known about many young people who have been reported to have gone missing with some of them found killed.
Kimathi, who was speaking in Murang’a town when he accompanied a family to identify a body that was collected from River Maragua on Monday, suspected the killings are extra judicial.
“From North Eastern, Nairobi and Coastal region, many young men have been reported to have gone missing and some have been found dead,” noted Kimathi.
On Monday midday, three bodies of young men were found dumped along River Maragua and two of the bodies have been identified and collected from Murang’a County hospital mortuary by family members for burial.
The two bodies, one of Abshir Adow Abdallah who was residing in Eastleigh, Nairobi and that of Abdiaziz Yusuf from Mandera, had some marks around their necks, an indication that they were strangled before their bodies were dumped at different places along the river.
One body is still in the mortuary, with Kimathi appealing to families who have lost their loved ones to go and identify the body.
The activist said by July this year, 100 young men from Mandera County had been reported missing and whereabouts of 35 others from Wajir not known.
“We wonder who is perpetuating the killings since up to now we have not witnessed anyone who has been arrested in connection to the merciless killings,” claimed Kimathi.
