A group of youths under the aegis of Concerned Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youths has threatened take over the national leadership of the party if the prolonged leadership crisis in the party is not resolved within the next seven days, reports Premium Times.

The youths said they were saddened by the unabated internal wrangling besetting the party.

Chairman of the group, Aderemi Olusegun, who briefed journalists at the end of group’s meeting on Tuesday at the Wadata Plaza National Secretariat of the party, said the youths had waited enough for the party’s leaders since the Port Harcourt convention to amicably resolve the lingering problem of leadership.

Aderemi said the PDP as a party is bigger than individuals and groups, adding that they youths have resolved to henceforth not tolerate anyone to take the party for a ride

Daily Trust reports that Aderemii also announced the setting up of an 11-man committee which it said is to liaise with the Board of Trustees (BoT), PDP Governors Forum (PDPGF), National Assembly Caucus (NC), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s camp and the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led national caretaker committee.

He gave the PDP stakeholders seven days to resolve the crisis without which the youths would seize power.

He explained that the group would mobilise all PDP youths ac‎ross the country for the purpose, lamenting that the deepening crisis in the party was abusing the sensibilities of party members and Nigerians who want the party to regain power in 2019.
