Nigeria: Two President Buhari’s Ministers Fight In Public Over Niger Delta

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and Minister for state for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu on Monday openly disagreed over some of the actions already taken by President Muhammadu Buhari, reportsNewsDay.

Both ministers, who spoke during the federal government town hall meeting held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, disagreed on cancellation of the Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta state.

While Amaechi said the university project was not possible and feasible, Kachiwkw said it was wrong for the government to have stopped the university project.

Kachikwu stated that if Amaechi continues to refuse it as Maritime University; he will take it up as Petroleum University.

Kachikwu also came hard on Amaechi on the issue of negotiation with Niger Delta militants.

He said there’s no place in the world where conflicts are being resolved through battles.

News 24 had reported that Amaechi and the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed narrowly escaped being attacked at the venue of the event.

Angry youths mainly students from the South-south region were demanding the execution of key projects in the zone.
