Opposition MP Says His Life Is In Danger

An opposition MP has raised fears that his life is in danger.

The MP claims that his push for the disbandment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has not augured well with some ‘elements’ in government who want to eliminate him.

Fred Ouata, MP for Nyando, said that a contingent of police officers were spotted surveying his rural home deep in the night.

“Last night, I was still in Kisumu town when I got a call that a number of police officers were surrounding my home,” he said on Sunday May 8.

“What worries me is that they did not call me or even come right inside the compound to inquire about my whereabouts. Why camp outside my house until midnight?” he added.

Outa blamed the incident on his vocal stance over the IEBC.

“I am in the Firimbi movement and I am also against IEBC and will not be cowed. I will continue participating in peaceful demonstrations to have the electoral commission disbanded,” he said.

The claims come at a time when Kenyans are mourning the death of businessman Jacob Juma who was killed in cold blood.
