A Nyeri based radio Presenter has claimed his life is in danger after receiving threatening messages from unknown person.
Charles Njama, who works with newly launched Gukena FM, said he received three threatening short messages (SMS) on his mobile phone while he was on air.
The shaken Njama said that he was exposing a stinking filthy trench in Nyeri town along the busy Gakere road.
“It was a story read in the news and I was just emphasizing on the matter so that the Nyeri County government can improve on the unhygienic condition along the street since it is situated in a place which has many eatery joints,” said Njama.
“Shortly later I received the messages telling me that I should remain quite or be forced to shut-up,” he added.
The message in Kiswahili version read,” Wewe Ujichunge sana hiyo mdomo yako, na ukishindwa tutakuonyesha kuizima, sisi hatukuogopi ata kidogo…. (You, take care of your mouth and if you are unable, we shall show you how to shut it up. We don’t fear you,”)
The journalist later reported the matter to Nyeri Police station where he recorded a statement over the matter.
Nyeri Central Police boss Makau Masai promised that police will investigate the matter and arrest those involved persons
