I Have Not Retired- Justice Philip Tunoi Says

Supreme Court judge Philip Tunoi told a tribunal investigating him over claims that he received a KES 200 million bribe to rule in favour of Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero that he has not retired as alleged.

Through lawyer Fred Ngatia, Tunoi said that he was yet to be issued with a retirement letter by the Judiciary.

“There is no retirement notice issued by the Judiciary…Judge Tunoi is not clinging to office; he’s ready to leave,” Fred Ngatia told the tribunal.

The tribunal had on Monday adjourned its sittings to Thursday to give them time to study the ruling made by the Supreme court on their retirement.
