Nigeria: Taraba Speaker Resigns

The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Mark Bakko Usani has resigned.

Bakko , who resigned during plenary on Thursday said his resignation was personal.

He thanked members of the state House of Assembly for the cooperation they have showed during his regime as the Speaker of the House.

Usani after vacating his seat as Speaker nominated Abel Peter Diah from Mbamnga constituency to succeed him

The motion was seconded by Kizito Bonzena from Zing constituency.

The House unanimously elected Diah as the new Speaker.

Diah was the former Speaker of the House before Usan was elected.

Diah vacated the seat after the Court of Appeal nullified his election and ordered a rerun election.

Diah won the rerun election and returned to House.
