Kano Assembly Impeaches Chief Whip For Being Loyal To Kwankwaso

Chief Whip of the Kano State House Assembly, Zubairu Mamuda has been removed from his position for recognising former governor of the state, Rabiu Kwankwaso as the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The decision of the Assembly to impeach Mamuda was sequel to a motion sponsored by a member representing Nassarawa Local Government Area, Ibrahim Gama.

Gama argued that the removal of the Chief Whip had become imperative in view of Mamuda’s disloyalty to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

The House which unanimously adopted the motion after it was put to a voice vote immediately replaced him with Labaran Madari, a member representing Warawa constituency.

Gov Ganduje and Kwankwao are currently at loggerheads over the control of the party in the state.

On Tuesday, 36 out of 40 members of the House pledged allegiance to the governor, deepening the estrangement between Ganduje and his predecessor.

Loyalists of the governor have also threatened to suspend Kwankwaso for orchestrating a violent rally at the burial of Ganduje’s mother.
