To commemorate Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary, Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, and 21 Savage will be playable characters in Activision’s Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone. Snoop will be the first character to appear in the Season 5 update on August 2, 2023, followed by Nicki’s character later in the season.
Nicki’s partnership began with a commercial in 2022, and she will be the first female Operator with her own name in Call of Duty history. In her Store Bundle, she will have exclusive customizations. Snoop has been a Call of Duty fan for nearly a decade, previously narrating and playing as a playable operator in earlier games.
Nicki is seen in official photos clutching a pink assault gun and sporting her signature pink hair. According to Vibe, Snoop is also spotted flaunting a blue assault rifle with gold marijuana trees, exhibiting his cobalt blue firearm.
The identity of 21 Savage in the game will not be revealed until the “mid-season” of Season 5. To mark Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary, the game will give free War Track Packs, which will grant players tracks from various decades if they log in between August 7 and August 16. On the fourth day of checking in, a special Weapon Blueprint will be unlocked.
The War Track Packs feature first appeared in 2019 and has included tracks by musicians such as Run-DMC, Jack Harlow, Ruff Ryders, The Clipse, and Salt-N-Pepa. The game includes music from across Hip-Hop’s history, celebrating the genre’s rich culture.
The video game brand is well-known for working with well-known artists on its games. Ice Cube provided the voice of one of the characters, Joseph Bowman, in 2009. In 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, 50 Cent appeared as a faceless US navy seal.
