Warren G, a seasoned rapper and producer, stated on Drink Champs that he talked Snoop Dogg out of travelling to Las Vegas with 2pac the night he was shot. The 52-year-old’s actions may have saved Snoop Dogg’s life, since the Drop It Like It’s Hot rapper would have been in the car alongside 2pac and Suge Knight.
On September 7, 1996, 2pac and Suge Knight traveled to Las Vegas to watch Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon. He was shot later that night while riding in a car with the Death Row co-founder.
Warren G stated that Snoop Dogg had planned to accompany 2pac to Las Vegas to watch the fight, but he instead invited the Gin and Juice rapper to come over to his Los Angeles house and hang out with him, according to Complex.
“The cold sh*t about it is, I had called Snoop,” the Regulate rapper said. “At that time, I was single … I had a house to myself. I was like, ‘Sh*t, I’m a bachelor. What’s up, Snoop? Come over! I’m here watching the fight, I’ma invite a gang of people over, we gonna barbecue.’”
“He was like, ‘F*ck that shit, I’m going to Vegas with 2Pac and them for the fight.’ So I was like, ‘Damn, n***a! You don’t never kick it with me, sh*t.’”
Warren G said Snoop Dogg, however, eventually showed up at his home some hours later in “a white m**haf**kin’ Rolls-Royce with the peanut butter inside with the top down.”
“He pulled up, he surprised me,” he added. “He came and hung with me, he let me drive that m**haf**ka and we just having a good time, barbecuing, having fun. And the fight was coming on. He came to f*ck with me for the fight instead of going to Vegas.”
Snoop Dogg was still hanging out with Warren G at his home when he got to know about the shooting. “We could hear the sh*t, and then he started getting calls and they was telling him that 2Pac got shot. So I kicked everybody out and [Snoop] took off—that’s when he went to Vegas to go see what was going on and go to the hospital,” Warren G said.
“If I wouldn’t have talked to him and got him to come over to my house, he probably would’ve been right there in the car with them and got shot as well,” he added.
2pac died as a result of his injuries on September 13, 1996, and his murder remains unsolved. NewsofAfrica, on the other hand, reported a significant development in his murder investigation in July, when police searched a property in Henderson, Nevada, in connection with the deceased rapper’s case.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department searched his residence, which is less than 20 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, where he was killed.
