Police arrested a man who was caught with a live bullet during the Afraha thanksgiving rally in Nakuru town.
Over 5,000 had been deployed to manage the large crowd that had come to rejoice over the termination of ICC cases against six Kenyans including President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto.
According to Standard, the man who was identified as Dickson Oduor said he had picked the bullet by the road side and was planning to hand it over to police.
Ruto and radio journalist Joshua arap Sang were the last suspects to get out of the ICC dragnet early this month.
Alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta, former head of Public Service Francis Muthaura, former minister for Industrialisation Henry Kosgey and former Commissioner of Police Rtd Major General Mohammed Hussein Ali, they were accused of orchestrating the violence that rocked the country following the disputed 2007 general election.
The six Kenyans appeared at the ICC for the first time in April 2011 for the initial hearing of their cases, Capital FM reports, but the court did not have enough evidence to convict Ali and Kosgei and thus terminated the cases against them.
Muthaura’s case was dropped in 2013 after the only witness who was testifying against him withdrew his evidence.
Uhuru Kenyatta’s case collapsed last year, leaving his deputy behind but vowed to fight for his freedom.
He also refused to celebrate his victory saying he would rejoice after all cases facing Kenyans at the ICC had been dropped and true to his word, the last two Kenyans left the Hague-based court on April 4 and together the six who went by the tag name ‘Ocampo Six’ held a thanksgiving rally in Nakuru to celebrate their freedom.
