Nairobi – A pedestrian has been crushed to death in a fatal road accident along Mombasa Road.
The incident took place Wednesday afternoon just after 4 PM in outside Gateway Mall, Syokimau.
The truck apparently lost control while trying to finish off an overtaking routine when the driver failed to redirect it to the road, hence crushing the pedestrian.
The driver of the truck was arrested by Police.
” The driver was at fault for the accident. He was overtaking haphazardly and then killed a pedestrian. We have arrested him and will press charges,” a policeman at the scene told News24.
The accident caused a serious traffic jam along the usually very busy road.
Police have attributed the rising cases of road accidents to the increased usage of the highway by what they term as not properly trained drivers.
