Nairobi – Pastor James Ng’ang’a, accused of killing a woman through dangerous driving has been released on a KES 1 million bond, or KES 500,000 cash bail.
Ng’ang’a appeared before a Limuru court Friday and was released on bail, despite the prosecution trying its best to ensure that he was not released.
The Neno Evangelism Centre lead pastor has denied that he was involved in the death of Mercy Njeri who died in the accident last month thanks to drink driving.
Senior Resident Magistrate Timothy ole Tanchu also freed Ng’ang’a’s three co-accused on bonds of KES 100,000 with a similar surety each or KES 50,000 cash bails.
They have all pleaded not guilty to trying to impede justice.
The magistrate ruled that the reasons given by the prosecution in opposing bail were not compelling enough and that he had cooperated with investigators and was not a flight risk.
Ng’ang’a stated after the hearing that he would go back to serving God as usual with his release secured.
” I will go back to what I do best, serving God and his people,” he stated, saying that he would be at his church as usual for Sunday service.
