Governor, Ken Lusaka, has been asked to sort out his administration mess instead of blaming other people.
A politician and former journalist, Mukhamule Walinywa, said Lusaka needed to streamline his government instead of pointing fingers to his critics.
Mr Walinywa stated that the governor needed to work and deliver services to the people instead of playing the victim whenever his administration is criticized.
He said the petition by three activists to the Senate was a pointer that all was not well with the current regime.
“The governor needs to get his actions straight and ensure that his officers deliver services instead of complaining about critics. He should stop pointing fingers that people were trying to unseat him but instead concentrate on the work at hand,” he said.
He further stated that Mr Lusaka should not drag Senator, Moses Wetang’ula, into his woes.
He said that Mr Wetang’ula was only doing his duty as enshrined in the Constitution and was not in any way trying to take over his seat.
Mr Walinywa pointed out that the Senate was mandated to oversight the usage of county funds and as such the Governor should not read malice in him being questioned.
He said that Lusaka should focus more on correcting the mistakes his officers have done instead of blaming the Senator.
“Wetang’ula is doing what he is mandated to do. He is simply questioning the use of funds and is demanding value for the people and so no one should blame him for the failures of the county government,” he said.
Three petitioners, Philip Wanyonyi, John Mukenya, Albert Lumumba and John Khaoya, wrote to the Senate accusing the Governor of failing to fight graft in the county.
The petitioners highlighted various graft related cases the administration has failed to answer including overpriced wheelbarrows.
Mr Lusaka had faulted a petition against him in the Senate saying it was only out to spread propaganda against his administration.
Mr Lusaka had stated that Mr Wetang’ula was constantly fighting him in order to gain political mileage and paint the devolved unit in bad light.
