Barman Fined KES 5000 For Operating Illegal Business

A barman in Nyeri town onnTuesday was slapped with a fine of KES.5,000 in default serve a one-year-jail term for operating unlicensed business.

Ephantus Kimata was arrested by police on June 20, this year in Nyeri town while operating a Wines and Spirits shop without valid documents that allow operational of the business.

He was taken to Kiganjo police station where he was locked up awaiting court trial.

The items seized from the shop including assorted brands of beer were produced before the court as exhibit.

However, while appearing before senior resident magistrate John Aringo the accsued admitted to the charges.

The court warned against operating illegal businesses.
