Kaduna State Governor,Nasir El-Rufai said Religious bill will curb extremism

Abuja – Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said  that the religious bill sent from him to the State House of Assembly is not a restriction on evangelism but a preventative procedure against religious extremism.

According to the Daily Post, Samuel Aruwan, spokesperson for El-Rufai, stated that the security of Kaduna citizens was the basis of the contentious bill.

Aruwan stated that if the bill is passed into law, both the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atu Nasir Islam (JNI) would have a framework to check ideological beliefs within the respective religions.

In addition, Aruwan stressed that the bill is not a law and that all meaningful contributions are welcome.

“Kaduna State Governor mean well for the people and wants to secure the lives and property of the residents of the state. There are emerging threats and we need to take drastic action now. We should all support this bill,” Aruwan said.
