Suspected Fulani herdsmen have reportedly gone on a rampage, killing six farmers in the Jema’a LGA of Kaduna State.
According to a Punch report, the herdsmen had informed residents that they would be occupying their villages as grazing grounds and that they should evacuate the area immediately.
Aliyu Usman, PR Officer for the Kaduna State Police, has confirmed the number of casualties, stating that some arrests have been made in teh matter thus far.
According to Usman, the herdsmen traveled to the area to allegedly avenge the death of one of their leaders who had been killed in one of the villages in the area, This Day reports.
“What happened was that these people went and killed a Fulani chief in one of the villages and burnt his house. The Fulani were just revenging,” Usman said.
