A section of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Terminal 1E has reopened following a temporary closure due to a fire incident, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) reported on Monday.
In a recent update, KAA verified the complete operational status of Terminal 1E (T1E), saying, “Further to our earlier statement, we’re pleased to announce that Terminal 1E (T1E) at JKIA is now fully operational.”
The event occurred on Monday morning and was caused by an electrical breakdown in Jomo Kenyatta International Airport’s Terminal 1E.
KAA assured the public that the issue was quickly resolved, with no recorded injuries or casualties. As a precaution, electricity to Terminal 1E was momentarily turned off to safeguard the safety of all individuals on the premises.
To minimize inconvenience, all flight arrivals have been rerouted to Terminal 1A until further notice. Passengers and workers were quickly removed from the impacted area.
Terminal 1E serves various international carriers, including British Airways, Qatar Airways, Emirates, and Lufthansa.
The reopening of Terminal 1E is a crucial step toward resuming normal operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport following the terrible tragedy.
