WATCH: Nelly Confirms Rekindling of Relationship with Ashanti After 10 Years

Rumors about rap veteran Nelly and R&B diva Ashanti rekindling their relationship had been circulating for months, despite the fact that they had initially refused to discuss it. However, in a recent interview with Rasheeda and Kirk Frost on her Boss Moves with Rasheeda podcast, Nelly claimed he and the 42-year-old singer are back together, according to PEOPLE.

“We cool again,” the 48-year-old told the host. “I think it surprised both of us.” The Ride Wit Me rapper also said “It wasn’t anything that was planned.” Nelly and the Foolish singer have reportedly been linked as a couple over the years – though they haven’t opened up about that.

“We both were pretty much doing what we do,” Nelly said. “But sometimes being separate, you understand one another more. You could be like, ‘Well yo, let me exactly see maybe what they see.’ We all can be defensive sometimes in our own relationships. We know we wrong but we going to stand on it, you know what I mean? But we all a victim to that.”

Asked if the rekindling of their relationship feels great at this point in time, Nelly said yes. “I mean, because it’s no pressure,” he said. “Before I felt like both of us are doing what we’re doing before career-wise, And when you got so many people in the middle of it, it can be tough.”

A video of the interview was shared by The Shade Room on Instagram. Ashanti jumped in the comments section and jokingly wrote, “Heyyyyyy bighead ????❤️???? @nelly.”

Ashanti also showed love to her beau at Tuesday’s MTV VMAs as she was spotted holding a bag that had a photo print of her and Nelly. “We’re in a great space, everything is positive, we’re having a lot of fun,” she told PEOPLE.
