Cornell Haynes Jr., better known as Nelly, and singer Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas are reportedly expecting their first child together.
Ashanti is expecting her first child, according to Us Weekly. This was following the rekindling of her friendship with Nelly.
According to a source, “Nelly and Ashanti are expecting their first child together,” according to the news outlet.
The rumors started after Ashanti and Nelly attended an event together over the weekend.
Ashanti and Nelly were seen on tape at the event playfully touching her stomach.
If the speculations are true, the baby will be Ashanti’s only child.
Nelly, on the other hand, already has two children with ex-lover Channetta Valentine: Chanelle, 29, and Cornell Haynes III, 24.
Nelly, 49, and Ashanti, 43, have been dating for a long time.
They met during the Grammy Awards announcement event in 2003.They dated for approximately ten years until splitting up in 2013.
In recent years, the music collaborators have been spotted at occasions together without acknowledging their relationship status.
However, when he appeared on the TV show ‘Boss Moves with Rasheeda’ in September, Nelly discussed the couple’s restored romance.
“Yeah, we cool again,” he said.
“I think it surprised both of us, though. It wasn’t anything that …[was] planned. I think we’re both pretty much doing what we do.”
On the red carpet at the 2023 MTV VMAs, Ashanti also told E! that the pair have reunited.
Ashanti also featured in Nelly’s 2008 hit song ‘Body On Me’.
