Three people are alleged to have been killed in Bori following an attack by gunmen believed to be hired assassins.

According to a Punch report, the killings took place on Sunday when the armed men entered a local establishment in the Khana LGA of the state, opening fire on the joint’s clients.

In edition to the murders, four houses are said to have been burned down during the incident.

It is believed that the armed hoodlums may have been hired to carry out the hit, with a relative of one of the deceased revealing that her brother has political aspirations and was a supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We were at home when they came to call us, saying that my elder brother has been shot dead by assassins. The killing is as a result of politics. My brother was a strong supporter of APC,” the source revealed.

The Rivers State Police Command have yet to confirmed the development.

The incident marks the latest in a string of politically-motivated killings, the last of which resulted in the state judiciary being shut down due to an attack by gunmen.
