Stevie Wonder has left Motown Records after nearly 60 years with the renowned label.
The legendary singer signed with Motown at the age of 11 and spent his entire career with the company before announcing this week that he will be moving on.
According to Sky News, the announcement came via a virtual news conference where Stevie also added that he had released two new songs.
The tracks, Where is Our Love Song, which he wrote at the age of 18, and Can’t Put It In The Hands of Fate, were released under Stevie’s own imprint, So What The Fuss Music, launched alongside Republic Records.
“Even though I have left Motown, I never leave Motown. That’s Detroit. So I’m sure that we can figure out how we can do some things at Motown,” the singer said, according to NME.
Stevie is also working on a possible compilation EP that would include the two new releases, as well as a new solo album titled Through the Eyes of Wonder, the publication reports.
The star also gave an update on his health, says Sky News, telling everyone he was “blessed with a new kidney” in December 2019.
“Since I have been released from the hospital, the nurses have made sure I’ve taken my medicine on time and I’m going to do it for as long as I have to, even if it is the rest of my life,” he said, adding: “I feel great.”
