Police reservists in Isiolo County have shot dead a cattle rustler and injured his accomplice.
An M16 rifle, 52 rounds of ammunition and seven cattle stolen from herders in Tigania East, Meru, were recovered after the Monday night incident.
Isiolo police boss, Henry Malova said the poor terrain and heavy rains had prevented officers from reaching the scene but they eventually succeeded.
The cattle rustlers are believed to be from neighbouring Samburu County.
