Nigerian President, Buhari Issues New Directive To EFCC

Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari has actually gotten one more report on the arms purchase rumor, causing him to release a new directive to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to a Naij report, the presidential panel set up to investigate the procurement of arms between 2007 and 2015 submitted a third report to the President, leading to Buhari ordering the arrest of anyone indicted in the scandal.

Given Buhari’s approval, the EFCC will now have the power to go after anyone mentioned in the new report, indicating that persons mentioned will be arrested prior to their names being released to the public, Punch reports.

“The President has directed that we explore the option of prosecuting indicted persons immediately instead of first publicising their names thereby giving some of them the leeway to escape justice,” an informed source disclosed.

Efforts are reportedly already underway to enlist the help of Attorney General Abubakar Malami in prosecuting those who are due to be brought to justice.
