Abuja – The State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali validated that Niger Delta militants were looking to establish a stronghold in Ondo State following 15 deaths in the region.
The militants have been strongly linked to the killings and are now said to be fleeing the Niger Delta region after the deployment of a strong military presence.
Over 100 militants invaded the Imushin community in Ogijo, with 15 people being killed and many others injured during a violent shooting spree.
Reports suggest that a mosque in the community was also attacked and a Muslim cleric was killed.
The commissioner has now warned that these invasions should not be taken lightly as the militants are looking to relocate to other areas to continue their vandalism on oil pipelines.
