Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, has urged the Federal Government to “respond positively” to the outrage exhibited by militants in the Niger Delta, Punch reports.
Soyinka, who met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, revealed that he did not support any international intervention group during the meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Stating that he was contacted personally to help with mediation on the matter, Soyinka disclosed that he spoke out on his capacity as himself, and not as a representative of any group, Premium Times reports.
“I will appeal to the government to respond positively to the outrage of the militants in the Niger Delta region. They feel that government is seriously not responding to them. I am not speaking for any international group. I am speaking as Wole Soyinka,” the Professor stated.
