A member of Parliament now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to upgrade the status of Nakuru town to a city.
Rongai MP, Raymond Moi said that Nakuru town has what it takes to become Kenya’s fourth City and therefore it should be elevated.
Speaking in Nakuru town on Wednesday, Moi said that elevating Nakuru’s status will open up the County to investors.
“Nakuru has all it takes to become a city. We have the infrastructure in place and are rapidly expanding our economic status and very soon we will be on a par with Mombasa which is Kenya’s second largest city,” said Moi.
“Nakuru is strategically positioned and we want to plead with the President to give us a city status before he vacates office in 2022,” he added.
Kenya currently has only three cities namely Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.
