Minister Wades Into Ebonyi APC Leadership Crisis

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has waded into the leadership crisis in the Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The crisis started in 2015 when the state Deputy Chairman, Eze Nwachukwu Eze, purportedly suspended and later impeached the state Chairman, Ben Nwobashi, and laid claims of the chairmanship of the party in the state.

Since the purported impeachment,  the party became polarized and factionalized by Nwobashi and Eze, both laying claims and operating as the chairman of the party.

In a reconciliatory close-door meeting held at Onu’s country home in Uburu on Sunday by some national and South-east zonal officers of the party, the minister noted that the chairmanship tussle would be resolved very soon.

Onu at the end of the meeting said the crisis will be over as reconciliation was still ongoing.

He also noted that the meeting was expedient so that all the chairmen in the South-east states would strategise for the party to win all subsequent elections in the zone.
