Nigeria and Cameroon are set to strengthen their bilateral and regional cooperation on the ongoing war against terrorism.
This follows the invitation of President Paul Biya of Cameroon by President Muhammadu Buhari, culminating in a two-day State Visit beginning Tuesday.
According to Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, Biya will be accompanied by his wife, Chantal, and senior Cameroonian government officials.
Buhari will receive the visitors at the Presidential Villa.
Both leaders and their officials will confer on issues of common interest to Nigeria and Cameroon.
These include ongoing bilateral and regional cooperation against terrorism, violent extremism and cross-border crimes.
It is expected that new agreements to strengthen existing ties, as well as trade and economic relations between Nigeria and Cameroon.
Adesina added that a joint communique on the visit and the talks between the two presidents and their officials would be issued and signed before the end of the visit.
Cameroon is among some neighbouring countries beset by terror perpetrated by the Nigerian Boko Haram sect.
