Kenya: MP Mauls Wetangula For Being Battered By His Wife

Nairobi – CORD co principal Moses Wetangula has embarrassed Luhya men after being allegedly battered by his wife a former MP has said.

Bifwoli Wakoli, the former Bumula MP says that Wetangula being battered by his wife as he reported in a Police report was not leadership quality.

He stresses that according to Bukusu tradition, a man cannot be seen in public to be battered by his own wife.

He says that leadership is taking care of such issues in a quiet manner.

” He cannot claim to be a leader and he is being battered. He has embarrassed Luhya men and cannot be relied on to lead a community and nation,” Wakoli told News24 on phone.

He insisted that Wetangula had lost respect of many men and women in the region.

” In Bukusu culture, if a woman, especially your wife, beats you up you are done completely and cannot say anything in front of elders and he know that,” he added.

Wetangula recorded a statement at Karen police station after claiming his wife Anne Wetangula beat him up after an argument over infidelity allegations.

The CORD co principal allegedly accused his wife of having an affair which led them to the incident.

His wife had also accused him of battering her in an earlier statement to the police.
