A Nyeri man is facing three months imprisonment for attempting suicide by taking rodents poison.
John Gitahi Ngunjiri was convicted by Resident Magistrate Catherine Mburu.
According to the charge sheet, Ngunjiri attempted suicide at his home in Karaihu village in Nyeri County on September 6, 2016.
He however told the court that he committed the offense due to stress and loneliness after his wife left him.
He stunned court when he said that his deceased father was frequently calling him to the death.
Ngunjiri divulged that he had shared his desperation with family members but no solution had been found.
