Kenya: Court acquits 25 KDF soldiers who were on life sentence

Mombasa – The Mombasa High Court has acquitted 25 KDF soldiers who were serving life sentence for desertion charges.

The 25 soldiers had been sentenced to life by Martial Court for allegation of deserting service in 2007.

While delivering the judgment, Justice Muya said that Prosecution did not prove beyond reasonable double the soldiers committed the offense.

They were however found guilty of absconding duty without permission and were sentenced to two years in jail, but since they have stayed in remand for one-and-a-half years, Muya acquitted them saying that that was enough punishment.
