During a recent interview on Today with Hoda & Jenna, Keke Palmer chose not to discuss her current relationship status with her boyfriend Darius Jackson. According to PEOPLE, the singer and actress’ relationship with Jackson came up when the co-hosts discussed a Beyoncé performance she attended with her boyfriend following an earlier incident.
As previously reported by NewsofAfrica, Jackson made headlines in July when he expressed his disapproval with Palmer’s exposing clothing at Usher’s Las Vegas residency event.
“Not y’all trying to get into it! They trying it on the Today show,” Palmer jokingly said when the co-hosts touched on the topic. When Hager also said they wanted to know if Palmer was happy, the 30-year-old responded by saying, “Yes, life is good. I have nothing but gratitude, honestly. Seriously.”
Kotb then asked her if she was referring to “the relationship.” Palmer, however, said, “I’m not trying to be specific!” “Well, are y’all together?” Hager also asked. “I’m going to take a page out of my girl Beyoncé’s book: Mind y’all’s business,” Palmer responded. “We will do that,” Hager also replied.
Elsewhere in the interview, the Akeelah and the Bee star also said motherhood has made her feel “sexier than ever.” “I feel so empowered,” she revealed. “Your body has done something insane; you birth a body. So any insecurities or self-consciousness I had before really did wither away because, like, honey, I did something incredible.”
Despite the July social media incident, Palmer and Jackson have been seen together on several occasions. Jackson paid tribute to her on social media on her 30th birthday.
Palmer and Jackson’s relationship became public in August 2021. Later that year, on The Tamron Hall Show, the actress discussed why she took that decision.
“It became more difficult to hide,” she said in reference to sharing photos of her with Jackson. “We spend all this time together, and he really is my closest friend, so it just becomes a thing where I’m not gonna hide something that makes me happy.”
“It’s not gonna be everything you see, my job is my job,” she added. “But at the end of the day this is somebody that is important to me so why not.”
