A group of Jubilee MPs allied to the TNA wing have accused Deputy President William Ruto of derailing IEBC peace talks.

The MPs, who spoke to News24 on condition they not be named stated that the DP had been the major roadblock to talks to end the impasse with his hardline stance on the matter.

According to the MPs from Central Kenya and Nairobi, the IEBC’s structure must be changed to allow peaceful polls and a cohesive nation since the CORD Coalition represents the view of millions of Kenyans too.

“The IEBC must be changed because there are millions who want it to and do not have hope in it,” an MP from Kiambu said.

“The DP must agree with it. He is the one forcing this process to take long. He must be flexible. Kenya belongs to us all,” the MP added.

Another MP from Nyeri stated that despite the CORD Coalition being forceful about their proposal, they are as big a client of the IEBC as the ruling coalition and thus must be listened to.

“There are those who are against the IEBC being changed from high up which is not healthy for the nation. Changes are for the good of the country not some individual feelings,” the MP stated.

The DP is on record as saying that the IEBC will remain in office until the CORD protests all over the country end.
