Former Nakuru town member of Parliament, David Manyara wants president Uhuru Kenyatta to rule for 20 years instead of the constitutional 10.
Manyara wants the constitution to be amended to give Kenyatta another 10 years in power. He argues that Kenyatta is still too young and energetic to retire in 2017.
Speaking in Nakuru town on Tuesday, Manyara who is also the Nakuru County Jubilee chairman called on Jubilee members of Parliament to push for the amendment to extend Kenyatta’s rule.
“The president is still very young and energetic and telling him to retire in 2022 will be like wasting him. He should be allowed some more time to lead Kenya even of it means an extra five years,” said Manyara.
“I think members of parliament can do something to extend his rule after 2022 because where does he go and what will he be doing if we allow him to retire in 2022?” he posed.
