Jocelyne Firmin is the creator and CEO of Kiyamel, a black-owned all-natural skincare company that has quickly become the go-to for those with eczema, psoriasis, and sensitive skin. When Firmin’s 6-week-old daughter developed severe eczema, she was obliged to find a long-term cure.

She said, “I’ve always suffered from severe acne and dry skin so I set out to find a solution for myself since nothing under the sun could work. Being a native of Haiti and a lover of nature, I knew I wanted a clean formula. However, when my daughter was born and developed eczema at only six weeks old, the premise of the formula was immediately switched, from acne to eczema,” according to Blacknews.com.

The mother claimed that she collaborated with a trained scientist to develop a successful blend of natural components that has since brought relief and joy to over 10,000 pleased customers.

According to Black News, her clinically tested products may now be found on the shelves of well-known retailers such as the Sistah Shop.

Despite the fact that she launched the company in 2019, it did not begin operations until 2021. Firmin also hoped to improve the lives of the estimated thirty million Americans who suffer from eczema. She spent time researching and developing her skincare brand as a consequence.

Firmin moved from Haiti to the United States on a full scholarship, according to Black News, eager to pursue her American dream. Despite coming from a low-income home and being raised by a single mother, she understood the concept of entrepreneurship from a young age.

She had to accompany her mother to work in open marketplaces in Haiti, which spurred her interest in entrepreneurship. Her company was the first black-owned business to be honored by the National Eczema Association.

“Patients love it,” remarked Dr. Calvin Williams, MD, FAAD of Essential Dermatology Group regarding her brand. “I selectively use it for those who lean towards natural products, and that’s a significant number. Kiyamel’s offerings are phenomenal, and I’d recommend they reach out to more physicians with their samples.”

Firmin has expanded her brand to Beauty Bridge, Walmart, Amazon, and Women’s Market Place in order to increase her global visibility.
