The Independence party has distanced itself from the protests conducted by the opposition to force officials of the electoral commission out of office.
KANU chairman, Gideon Moi said although he agrees that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) must be disbanded, the process must be peaceful.
“All the commissioners must pack and go, but for us in KANU we want a peaceful process to resolve the current stand-off that is already polarizing the country,” he explained.
KANU Secretary General, Nick Salat has in the recent past joined opposition leaders in the anti-IEBC protests, but the party had maintained that he attended the meetings on his own capacity.
CORD leaders led by Raila Odinga have vowed to continue with the demos on Monday, even after the police outlawed the protests.
