Mombasa – A tragic accident involving a truck near Salama along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway has claimed the lives of five people and at least 20 injured.
According to Standard Media the accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning when a lorry was overtaking and collided with the truck.
“The lorry driver is believed to have miscalculated the distance when he decided to overtake at a hilly place while the bus was moving at high speed. Among the dead was the bus driver,” said traffic commandant Jacinta Kinyua.
A huge traffic jam began to build up as the scene of the calamity was being cleared.
Meanwhile a form one student at Friends School Kamusinga in Kimilili constituency, Bungoma County, drowned in a swimming pool Monday while training for a major competition.
The star swimmer had been selected to represent his school in the regional swimming competitions in April.
