The executive chamber of the Ondo State Governor’s office was on Tuesday gutted by fire.
The fire incident, which occurred three minutes after the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff arrived the governor’s office, was caused by power surge.
The fire destroyed some government’s property.
Sheriff was in the state on a courtesy visit to Mimiko, who is the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
The fire outbreak was discovered by journalists and some PDP chieftains who were waiting for the PDP chairman and Mimiko for briefing.
All efforts by journalists and PDP leaders to put out the fire proved abortive.
Mimiko quickly left his office with his guest to the government house, while workers were seen rushing out of their offices for safety.
The fire brigade service arrived the scene 20 minutes later and successfully put the fire off.
