There was celebration at Victory Church in Lake View estate in Nakuru town after a man who had been convicted for a death sentence was released.
The 30 year old, Isaac Kimama had been convicted by a Nakuru Law Court for robbery with violence back in 2008 at Langa Langa estate.
Kimama was escorted by two prison officers during a handing over ceremony to area Chief George Kamau and the community who welcomed him back to the society
“My life came crumbling down after the judge who was handling my case gave me a death sentence for a crime which I had done back in the year 2008,” he said.
Kimama said that after spending one year in prison, his death sentence was reversed into a life imprisonment along with other 200 inmates after the then president Mwai Kibaki pardoned them during a public holiday.
He said that while he was still serving his sentence, he under took theology classes and within months he began preaching for the fellow inmates.
“In 2009 is a day I will never forget because I was among the 200 prisoners in the whole country be pardoned by the order of the president and my death sentence was reversed into a life imprisonment,” he said.
Kimama said that he later appealed his case where again his case was reversed from life imprisonment to seven years jail term.
He said that before the appeal he used to pray and fast while he was still in prison for him to be realized within the shortest time possible.
The ex-convict said that he is going to use his “fairy tale story” to change the ways of the youths at Lake View estate that could still be engaging in crime activities.
“Now that I have story to testify after serving my seven years jail term, I am willing to speak to the youths and urge to stop engaging from violence activities,” he said.
Area chief Kamau said that Kimama is now a reformed man and that the community should not stigmatize him.
