Counsel to Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) Festus Okoye, said the leader in a terrible shape having lost an eye, a hand and now walks with a limp.
The legal team of the IMN in a press briefing in Kaduna, said the wife Zeenat was in a better shape as the three bullets lodged in her sides had been removed through surgery.
Okoye said El-Zakzaky has sued the Nigerian Army and other security agencies of the Federal Government for the sum of N2 billion for alleged breach of his fundamental human rights.
He said El-Zakzaky has directed his lawyers to challenge the composition of the judicial commission of inquiry set up by Kaduna State Government.
Others joined in the suit filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja included the Chief of Army Staff, DSS, Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney General of the Federation.
Lawyers representing the Movement, led by Festus Okoye, at a press conference in Kaduna, said they have been able to get access to El-Zakzaky, who is currently under the custody of the Directorate of State Security (DSS), Abuja, adding that as a result of the gruesome treatment meted on him, there is need to enforce his fundamental rights against the agents of federal authorities
