DSS Warns Public After Death Of Ekiti Legislator

The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned members of the public against fanning violence through claims an Ekiti legislator had died in DSS custody.

The warning comes amid speculation Akanni Afolabi, a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, had died.

These have been debunked with DSS presenting Afolabi to media at a press conference.

DSS spokesperson, Tony Opuiyo, sought to debunk the rumour which he said was being “dangerously” spread in Ekiti by “mischief makers” to the effect that Afolabi has died in custody.

“The DSS has therefore warned members of the public to desist from speculation.

“The service will not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law against any one or persons that may engage in violent actions of any kind,” Opuiyo said.

“In a similar vein, all law abiding Ekiti residents should go about their normal businesses as the service assures them of full protection by security agencies.”

Afolabi has been invited by the service over some alleged breaches bordering on state security and for which DSS said he had some explanations to make.
