A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed June 14 for hearing in of a suit filed by detained leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, Daily Trust reports.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole adjourned the suit after Zakzaky’s counsel Femi Falana (SAN) acceded for more time to the respondents, who were absent in court.
Zakzaky was arrested following a confrontation between his group and soldiers which resulted in several deaths and destruction of properties on December 12 and 14, 2015.
Counsel to the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, had filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja demanding for the immediate and unconditional release of the leader of the movement, Sheikh EL-Zakzaky from the custody of the Army and the Department of State Security Service, DSS according toDaily Post
The legal counsel is asking that the leader of IMN be paid the sum of N2billion as general damages for the illegal violation of his fundamental rights to life, dignity of his person, fair hearing, privacy and private property.
