The CORD Uhuru Park rally failed miserably, a Jubilee MP says.
According to Starehe MP Maina Kamanda, the aim of CORD was to cause violence and misery but that was killed off by the heavy presence of law enforcement officers in and around Nairobi’s CBD.
He says that the fact there was no disorder was a fail for the CORD Coalition.
” They planned to cause problems and failed thanks to strong Police presence,” he said.
He added that despite the fact that CORD managed to hold their own rally, the main spotlight was in Nakuru where President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Jubilee Coalition were.
” The message of the day was delivered to Kenyans by President Uhuru Kenyatta and the rest of the Jubilee Coalition in Nakuru and Kenyans appreciate that,” he added.
Kamanda is confident that there will be changes made to the make-up of the IEBC but that it will not be done outside Parliament.
” CORD can complain as much as they can but we all know that any changes to the IEBC must be constitutional,” he added.
