The coalition for reforms and democracy is simply subjecting Kenyans to humiliations and suffering in its push to ouster the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC.
In my opinion, though I admit democracy is very expensive, CORD is not going anywhere with its demonstrations to ouster the constitutionally elected commission.
I can authoritatively say that, IEBC did its best in the 2013 general elections and the political parties should now focus on working closely with the Commission so that it can overcome the challenges it faced in the last general elections, for a smooth preparations for the next year August polls as well.
The three CORD Principals, Raila Odinga, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula were already given a chance to meet the IEBC Commissioners among them the Chair Isaack Hassan but instead of honoring such invite they carry a crowd to interfere with the Commissions’ operations.
It is not worthy for the opposition to push for IEBC removal without valid reasons and according to my own view ODM party leader Raila Odinga has personal reasons in the push.
Can IEBC address such serious issues in a crowd?
Is there another way like engaging the parliament in streamlining the IEBC?
Of course CORD should now be busy implementing such ways in ensuring that their demands are met but not to cause tension in the Country for demonstrations which are doomed to fail.
I remember Deputy President William Ruto recently told the opposition that they will be defeated by 70 percent plus 1 vote and not the required 50 percent plus 1 vote come August 2017, and that statement will definitely see its way since CORD is losing its focus on wooing voters.
I have also learnt that these demonstrations are only conducted in Nairobi and Kisumu, the ODM strong holds regions, even in Kalonzo’s and Wetangula back yard nothing is happening, so in simply terms that translates to a failed plot by the CORD principle to ouster IEBC or head to the state house in 2017 general elections.
Am also enjoying the situation at the Coast where no demonstrations at all everyone is working towards putting food on the table.
My simply advise to CORD supports and to Kenyans, these Political leaders should not waste your time, they should not make you hate each other they are not even working towards improving your lives, IEBC can be removed in constitutional ways specifically through parliament and not creating discomfort and tension in the Country.
