Anne Hathaway has just announced she won’t be drinking alcohol for the next 17 years in order to be a better mom to her nearly three-year-old son.
During an appearance on The Ellen Show, the Ocean’s 8 actress told host Ellen that she quit drinking in October last year.
“I quit drinking back in October . . . for 18 years,” Anne said.
I’m going to stop drinking while my son is in my house just because I don’t totally love the way I do it, and he’s getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the morning.
“I did one school run one day where I dropped him off at school. I wasn’t driving, but I was hungover and that was enough for me. I didn’t love that one.”
But that wasn’t the only time the 36-year-old didn’t like how she felt after imbibing alcohol.
The actress told the television host about her experience when she was touring rum bars while visiting Mauritius with Serenity co-stars Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alvez.
“Wow, and how was that?” DeGeneres asked.
“I don’t remember,” Anne simply replied, “I have no idea.”
“They’re both cool, [but] I just can’t drink as much as them. We drank the night away, and then I had to go to a meeting with Steven Knight, our director, the next day, and I was just kinda – have you guys ever had to do a meeting hungover?
“I was just kinda stumbling in with one eye open and I was trying to convince him about certain things about my character.”
