Eleven Arrested For Attempting To Bring In Machetes Into Uhuru Park

Eleven men were arrested after attempting to bring in machetes into Uhuru Park during 53rd Madaraka Day Celebration.

According to Citizen TV it is the same venue that will host the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy’s (CORD) rally.

Kilimani OCPD Peter Kattam confirmed the arrests and they have since been taken to Kilimani Police Station.

Security was tightened when CORD was allowed access to the venue despite rumours that they would host their rally in a different venue.

President Kenyatta held rare talks leaders from the opposition on Tuesday in order to discuss peace in light of protests by the opposition last month.

The protests were which started in April were due to accusations against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of bias and demanding it be scrapped.

Three people were killed last week in western Kenya.
